Village Squares

I love the little squares that one finds in the villages in Provence.  They are almost like courtyards.  This particular one is in St. Remy-de-Provence.  It has a fountain, and is shaded with chestnut trees.  There are lights strung between the trees and there is a patisserie and a creperie as well as a museum and access to shops across the street.  It is a perfect place to order an espresso and watch the world go by on a beautiful day.

Cafe de la Fontaine

The Cafe de la Fontaine is a nice little cafe in Mausanne les Alpilles near St. Remy-de-Provence.  The cafe is across the street, however the marquee tents are in the village square near the church.  It is a wonderful day to spend a sunny afternoon -- sipping drinks and watching the world go by.

Chock-a-block Full

Take a look at what is crammed into this village square. You have a hostel, a cafe, a restaurant, a hotel, an ice cream shop and a war memorial.

Victory Day

The village square is decked out with the French tri-colour to celebrate Victory Day, Armistice in 1945. The French suffered horribly in World War II.
