Topiary of Provence

Topiary and shaping trees is a craft that one sees all through Provence.  This example was on the lawn of a mas.  Aesthetics are an important part of life, even on your lawn.

In the entry below, I profiled some shaped trees that were larger than life.  Here are some topiaries that are of a smaller size on a balcony in the Camargue.  Even removed from the countryside, there are plants and flowers everywhere in Provence.

Topiaries in Provence

These topiaries are along the roadside near the mountain-top village of Gordes in Provence. Further along the way, there are conical evergreen topiaries. The countryside around Gordes is perhaps the most beautiful in Provence.
