Pool At a Gite

With the warm summers, a swimming pool is almost a necessity at any gite that you are staying at.  This one was at a beautiful gite in the northern part of Provence.  When visiting Provence, we tend to stay at gites to get the local flavor of the place.

Here is a bit of French trivia.  A pool in French is a piscine.  It is pronounced "piss-in", which is what some people do in a pool.

Pool at a Heritage House

Most of the better houses have pools for the hot Provencal summers. This is a gorgeous pool located at a heritage house (with a gite attched) in the northern part of Provence.

Empty Pool

It was early spring and the pool was being prepared for use, but for the time being it was empty, as was the Euro-chic furniture beside the pool.
