Pool At a Gite

With the warm summers, a swimming pool is almost a necessity at any gite that you are staying at.  This one was at a beautiful gite in the northern part of Provence.  When visiting Provence, we tend to stay at gites to get the local flavor of the place.

Here is a bit of French trivia.  A pool in French is a piscine.  It is pronounced "piss-in", which is what some people do in a pool.

This gite is called Le Papillon (The Butterfly) and it is an incredibly well-appointed vacation house, and reasonably priced in a beautiful, yet secluded area of Provence.  The amenities include a pool, and scenic countryside and villages.

A Quaint Guesthouse Gite in the Country

This quaint farm building in a bucolic countryside has been converted into a gite or a guesthouse.  It is the perfect way to holiday in Provence.

This is the private terrace of a guest gite.  It is in a wonderful setting with the ubiquitous flowers and the gorgeous scenery of Provence.

Many farms that are no longer active are sold to entrepreneurs cashing in on the tourist buildings in Provence.  They convert the farm buildings into gites or guest houses such as the one pictured above.  It is a very bucolic way to vacation in Provence.

Many farm owners have converted outbuildings to vacation gites, or mini-apartments.  Renting a gite can give you the flavor of Provence at a more affordable price than a hotel.

This one was rustic, had all of the amenities and was located in a vineyard.

This gite was created from a farm outbuilding, and is now a guest house in a rural bucolic setting in Provence.

With a coffee pot full of Van Gogh irises, and a glorious view of the farm fields separated by a stone fence, one can enjoy a simple breakfast and a restful, beautiful bucolic view of the fields.  Now that is a vacation.

Often times, land owners will take small outbuildings and convert them to guest houses or gites.  This is the case here.  This charming guest house in a bucolic setting is called La Borie, and is in a simply stunning setting in Provence.

Beautiful Guest House

Imagine spending a vacation in the South of France in this beautiful little guest house called a gite in the countryside. Provence is full of these. They can be found near vineyards, orchards, lavender farms, quaint mountain-top villages and majestic valleys.
