Springtime in Provence -- The Cherry Orchard

One of the surest signs of spring in Provence is cherry blossom time. This cherry orchard is awash with the fragrant blossoms of spring and cherries.

Green Cherries

Cherries have a special place with me. We had a cherry tree in the backyard all of my growing up years. And part of the charm of Provence, is that there are cherry trees everywhere. It is one of my favourite fruits.

Over the cherry trees

There is nother sweeter than being surrounded by a cherry orchard while looking over the patchwork quilt of farms in the valley. The birdsong is wonderful as well, because it is not only the humans that like the cherries. If you click on the pic to enlarge it, you can see the ripe cherries on the trees.

I stand in orchard where the farmer cannot see me, and I gorge myself on the delectable fruits.
