Crossroads in a Quiet Town

Around sundown, the village inhabitants are in there homes, preparing an evening meal, and the quiet streets, even the normally busy crossroads are quaint and quiet again.  Even in the village, there is a plethora of trees, bushes and greenery that is ubiquitous in Provence.


Road to the town of Apt

This is just at the traffic circle of the road leading into Apt in Provence.  Even in the modern parts of the town, it is quite picturesque.  Market day in Apt is quite exciting.

Vines at the Doorway

The previous blog posting was of old vines and irises. This is a picture of a village house doorway with an ancient thick grape vine growing at the edge of the building. The rest of the doorway entrance is a collection of potted plants to add greenery and colour to a stone village house.

Sleepy sunny village lane

Medieval village lanes too narrow for cars, studded with the flowers and vines at the doors of the village houses are the hallmarks of the picturesque Provencal villages.
